Forged Aluminum and Steel Pistons

Closed-die forging is a distinct route for compatible piston blanks made from selected aluminum or steel alloys. Forged blanks are supplied in shapes suited to the approved component drawing; subsequent operations, where required, are included only in the agreed order. A forging and a cast piston are different product forms and should not be presented as identical merely because they share a nominal diameter.

Sand Casting for Specialized Industrial Parts

Sand casting can be considered for suitable larger piston components and specialized reciprocating machinery parts. It is generally a different production proposition from small, high-volume automotive aluminum pistons, with tooling, batch size and part geometry affecting feasibility.
